Meet Jade, my first try at making a Dragon Amigurumi. 🐉

I wanted to get a feel for the pattern and construction and used fingering scraps. Looking back, probably not my best choice, but it sure gave me a steep learning curve!

Pattern: Dragon by Megan Lapp (Crafty Intentions) from the book "Crochet Creatures of Myth and Legend"

Fellow crafters: If you ever wonder if you weave in ends well enough to prevent future unraveling, I recommend trying to undo it.

I decided to go a different route with a bit of knitting after I'd finished it off.

If the task requires cursing, you have done very well.

I, for example, am an unmitigated master at weaving in ends. I'm particularly adept at "splitting" the yarn I'm weaving into, hence knotting the yarn quite satisfactorily.
Yep - cursing was involved. 😉🤪😇

2025 FOYAL Volunteer Signup

We couldn't possibly run the event without our fantastic volunteers! The event is filled with lots of activities and games, and we need help to run them all. Volunteer responses will determine which activities we're able to have this year, as well as which platforms we can support them on. If you'd like to help out, please let us know what you're interested in doing. Everything is optional, please don't feel obligated to volunteer for things which don't interest you! You're able to tell about your availability for the amount of tasks you want to help out with and the amount of time you are available at the end of the sign up, so feel free to pick as many things as you like during signing up. We always respect boundaries and spoon level. We need to be able to make these decisions in time for the start of the yarnalong, so although you can absolutely fill this form out at any time throughout the event, we do need to know early on whether we have enough volunteers for: Moderating/monitoring for the various platforms Posting designer promotions and/or stories on the various platforms Hosting random giveaways on the various platforms Writing designer promotions for the various platforms Running interactive designer events Other volunteering tasks are: Data entry Website testing Organizing prizes Hosting giveaways and running games Creating sharable creative assets Before you continue we'd like to tell a bit more about each volunteer task and what you can expect and is expected when you sign up for one or several of them. You can read about the tasks in this document This form is made in sections. To know what to expect in this form here's an index of what each section is about. Hopefully you won't have to circle back to earlier sections with this information. Page 2: signing up for data entry, website testing and/or creating shareable creative pieces Page 3: signing up for moderating Page 4: signing up for writing and/or posting promo's and stories Page 5: signing up for helping with interactive designer events Page 6: signing up for helping with giveaways, games and other fun ideas Page 7: your availability before and/or throughout the event You only have to fill in your answers on the pages you're interested in helping out and your availability. Anyone here play with freeform crochet? I just discovered it & have been playing with making lots of random shapes. It's been great fun to let go of any predestined or preplanned pattern. It's also great to bust through my yarn stash.

I have no idea what all these pieces will end up turning into.

Started making a blanket in October 24th 2023.

Just finished it.

Made using crochet with pre-looped yarn and it was my first time using that sort of yarn.

I think that *actual making* was probably 6 - 8 (?) hours, I had ten balls of yarn.

Enjoyed it a lot! Learned quite a bit about stitch directionality and also ways to deal with dropped and/ or extra loops.

My biggest accomplishment was engaging with all of you #FinishOrFrogAlong folks! I finished one washcloth, one spinning project, and 5 hexiflats (including one handspun one). I also cast on the Fox Whisperer shawl after encouragement from all of you!

I love engaging with all ya’ll now and throughout the year. Thanks everyone! Let’s keep the connection energy going!

Today’s #FinishOrFrogAlong Q&A: well, we have talked about our favorite projects and our dream projects. Maybe you found some inspiration from something someone else is working on.

What do you have teed up as your next project? Are you pushing ahead on finishing or frogging more stuff? Or are you casting on or otherwise starting something new?

Hey #Crochet #Brochet #FiberArts #YarnArts Mastodon, does anyone have a pattern for a crochet Mastodon? One of my friends has joined us and is really digging it and I thought I'd make her a stuffed Mastodon as a holiday gift. I've found a couple of elephants online but I bet someone on here knows of a specifically Masto-stuffie 😁
