• A fan's rant in some Discord occasioned by a recurring background character being mentioned in the podcast one too many times. This is my favourite rendition.

  Incidentally, Yiddish emerged about a thousand years ago, solidly in the medieval period—so there is no such thing as "ancient Yiddish" and the earliest form would pretty much be Middle High German.

  Also, I've mentioned this before on a previous account, but I don't think there's a direct equivalent to "to fuck up" in Yiddish. There's a lot of words for a person who fucks up, and for general fucked-upness, but as far as I know there isn't an obscene verb for fucking up. If anyone knows more, please tell me.

Side note, I've said this before but: I wondered if the Re: Dracula folks were trolling when they cast Jonathan Sims, who played a dork with a posh British accent chronicling tales of horror into a tape recorder in The Magnus Archives, as Dr. Seward, a dork with a posh British accent chronicling tales of horror into a phonograph. But I figured I was maybe reading too much into things.

Then they cast Alasdair Stuart, who played a gruff and isolated sea captain in The Magnus Archives, as the gruff and isolated captain of the Demeter, and I knew they were trolling.
