it's #WeevilWednesday, here's Acanthoscelidius acephala which I find on evening primrose. I'm obsessed with how their faces look like "^|^" from a certain angle when they have their heads tucked in!!

The weevil even more uncurled, flailing its clawed feet. (I put it back on the plant after this, don't worry)

The weevil in my palm, on its back, just uncurling from playing dead and reaching out one back foot to right itself. The way its head tucks into its thorax makes its face look like "^|^"

One of the same kind of weevil sitting on my fingertip, for scale. It's like 4mm long, tops.

These little bluish-black weevils were all over the cosmos in a park. Not sure if #Curculionidae or #Brentidae, subfamily #Apioninae.

I found this weevil during an #iNaturalist bioblitz at the Timberlake Biological Field Station. 30 participants documented 1,200+ species over the weekend!

I think this is Genus Odontocorynus,
a member of Flower Weevils Subfamily Baridinae.
