Published a hook model that can be screwed or glued under the desk, ideal to hang headphones, bags, etc. As usual, the #FreeCAD file is included to ease remixing.

I moved my #quartz64 NAS to my #minirack !
I designed (using #FreeCAD) a 100% custom shelf for the power supply, the SATA controller and the SBC and 3D printed it.
This is the very first time I design a 3D model! I don't even own a 3D printer! It's definitely not perfect, but I'm happy with the result so far!
If you're interested, here is a link to the previous build of this NAS : https://pine64.org/2022/06/03/my-diy-low-power-6-ssd-nas-based-on-the-quartz64-arm-board/

Busy start on the joint #FreeCAD and @kicad booth at #FOSDEM Come and see us... we have micro manipulator robots, @librespace spaceships and more.. all designed in FreeCAD and KiCad.

Know any #FreeCAD trainers for a basic crash course in Portland, Oregon?
Last year I made a lot of progress with a 3D model of an airship (although I made the nacelles too big, they have the floor area of my apartment). I'd like to continue, but #FreeCAD has started to struggle linking the subassemblies together.
Changing any subassembly means that the three top level assemblies have to be reconnected, and though it means only two joins, that process takes twenty minutes - and I'm only halfway through creating the model.
Looking at the hugely detailed ships in games like Elite Dangerous, there has to be a more appropriate tool I can use?
I butchered a three.js example to give me a fly-through viewer, eventually I want to be able to walk through the complete model, with internal and external views.
Here's what I have so far: https://splinterton.com/airship.html
FreeCAD day will be taking place next week as part of the FOSDEM conference:

:D
This won't be news to many of you, but MangoJelly has made a few short videos showing what's coming in FreeCAD 1.1.

I feel like FreeCAD is picking up momentum. It feels like it's on the cusp of getting really good really fast (where "really fast" still means years).

I'm watching @MangojellySolutions 's #FreeCAD video series. (Highly recommended, BTW.) I'm 17 episodes in and ready to start designing stuff.
I have questions. When I can't find the answer myself, where's the best place to ask FreeCAD questions?
Thanks for all advice.
(For those who don't follow me, I've designed hundreds of things in Fusion 360 and OpenSCAD; I'm a FreeCAD newb but intermediate in CAD.)
Just modeled a Sennheiser headphones mount in FreeCAD 1.0.2 for 3D-printing.
Occasionally this mount has a "face expression" of a permanent shock as if it just had a doom-scrolling session for ten hours straight.

If anyone needs an easy-to-print and stable drying stand for their #cycling water bottles, I just uploaded my design to Printables.
Naturally, designed in #FreeCAD.

It's the first #FreeCADFriday of 2026. Happy new year! What are you working on currently, or, what are your #FreeCAD plans for the year? #CAD
