BeetBear looked a little grumpy this morning as he pushed his wheelbarrow along the side of the veg. patch. He will get another blueberry pie later to make him smile. Still very humid and warm here. Was able to harvest enough to put out another load of free veg. for the neighbors. Stay safe, everyone! 馃榾

A ten inch tall (25cm), light brown teddy bear in green overalls sits looking directly at the camera. His name is BeetBear. He is holding a beet in his right paw. There is a bunch of beets embroidered on the bib of his overalls. He sits among the various tote and boxes placed in a green garden cart. The totes contain various vegetables, including yellow sunburst squash, eggplant, cucumbers, zucchini, cabbage, and Jalape帽o peppers.

A green garden cart is tilted forward to show that it contains 4 white plastic totes containing vegetables. Top to bottom, left to right we have 3 heads of cabbage, 8 large zucchini, 4 dozen cucumbers, and about a dozen eggplant. Off to the left side are a tote of yellow sunburst squash and a small box of jalape帽o peppers.

BeetBear helped me pick our surplus to put out for the neighbors today. Some of the zucchini was getting to be battleship sized. We offered zucchini, yellow Sunburst squash, and eggplant today. The few cucumbers and tomatoes we kept for our own dinner to go with the home-made coleslaw. Too hot to cook much today. Looks like more storms coming overnight. We could use the rain but not the wind. We'll see...

This mornings "harvest": two pounds (about 1 kilo) of fresh blueberries and about 3 dozen cucumber beetles picked off the plants with my "sticky" stick. Good news! The first corn planting is starting to top out!. Now off to make some more blueberry pies for BeetBear.

After two weeks in the tumbler, the grass clipping-leaf mold mix is ready enough to be brought out to use as mulch around the tomatoes. BeetBear rolled up his sleeves and got to work. At least the rain has stopped and the sun is shining today. Things are looking up. 馃榾

The weather is still a little too cool and windy for my liking, but #BeetBear and I could wait no longer. All the squashes and cucumbers got set in the ground today. I covered them with the white plastic totes to protect them from wind, cold, and pests. They'll stay covered until conditions improve and/or they outgrow the totes.

Seems that SOMEONE (probably a chipmunk) decided it would be a good idea to get up on the greenhouse bench and start pilfering newly planted corn seeds. Have now replanted missing seeds and covered it all with fleece. ALSO, #BeetBear got all the cucumbers, yellow squash, zucchini, and butternut squash seeds planted in trays today. We ended up covering all that with fleece, too. And so we progress馃榾

The allotment is looking good considering how hot and dry it has been; broad beans (Bartek) and the tall-growing peas (Alderman) are taking off nicely. (See alt text). The ridged ground is where the second early potatoes are planted but they are not through yet. They are Wilja, Nadine and Acoustic.
The onions and garlic are also on schedule (out of shot).
Heartfelt thanks to my wife, who is doing all the hard work this year due to my poor health.
