The tomatoes are finally coming in large quantities. Had enough to put out some surplus today. Had a lovely note left in the cart this morning. Did you ever notice that the largest and best tomatoes always grow deep within the support cages and wedged between the cage and a large stem in such a way as it's impossible to extract it without ending up with a handful of mush? Happens here all the time... More corn soon! 😀

We topped off a beautiful day here by resuming our corn-fest. Probably enough left of the first planting to get us one more meal. Second planting should be ready in another 2 days or so. I figure we'll get to about 95 or 6 ears from the first planting, if the skunks stay away! Meal also included roast sausage, peppers and cherry tomatoes and more raspberries n' cream. Too full to move..

The tomatoes have started to come through a little better now, although they are smaller than usual (but taste great!). We had a little surplus for the neighbors to set out today. Best thing is that the corn conveyor is still providing for our corn-fest. BeetBear keeps count and has his share and we all enjoy raspberries and whipped cream after dinner!

A ten inch tall (25cm), light brown teddy bear in green overalls sits looking directly at the camera. His name is BeetBear. He is holding a beet in his right paw. There is a bunch of beets embroidered on the bib of his overalls. In front of him, in a metal tray, are 13 ears of sweetcorn. It has just been picked and shucked and is ready for cooking. In his lap is a small white card on which is written: "Sweetcorn - 2025, 29-July, ears number 33 to 46.

BeetBear looked a little grumpy this morning as he pushed his wheelbarrow along the side of the veg. patch. He will get another blueberry pie later to make him smile. Still very humid and warm here. Was able to harvest enough to put out another load of free veg. for the neighbors. Stay safe, everyone! 😀

A green garden cart is tilted forward to show that it contains 4 white plastic totes containing vegetables. Top to bottom, left to right we have 3 heads of cabbage, 8 large zucchini, 4 dozen cucumbers, and about a dozen eggplant. Off to the left side are a tote of yellow sunburst squash and a small box of jalapeño peppers.

BeetBear helped me pick our surplus to put out for the neighbors today. Some of the zucchini was getting to be battleship sized. We offered zucchini, yellow Sunburst squash, and eggplant today. The few cucumbers and tomatoes we kept for our own dinner to go with the home-made coleslaw. Too hot to cook much today. Looks like more storms coming overnight. We could use the rain but not the wind. We'll see...

This mornings "harvest": two pounds (about 1 kilo) of fresh blueberries and about 3 dozen cucumber beetles picked off the plants with my "sticky" stick. Good news! The first corn planting is starting to top out!. Now off to make some more blueberry pies for BeetBear.
