" #EPA drafts rule to strike down landmark climate finding."
https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2025/07/22/endangerment-finding-epa-climate/

"The Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to rescind a landmark 2009 legal opinion that greenhouse gas emissions put human health at risk, which underpins many of the government’s actions to combat #climate change…A decision to completely rescind the endangerment finding is still a draft proposal and could be subject to change…The draft would also eliminate all resulting limits on motor vehicle greenhouse gas emissions."

Update. It's happening. Tomorrow the #Trump #EPA will repeal the 2009 finding that greenhouse gases endanger human health. That "endangerment" finding allowed the EPA to regulate carbon emissions under the Clean Air Act. Its repeal will pave the way for the repeal of those regulations.

Trump EPA to gut key scientific finding underpinning US climate policy

The 2009 'endangerment finding' is the legal underpinning of nearly all US climate regulations for planet-heating emissions.

Update. The repeal of the endangerment finding is based on a recommendation from Trump's Climate Working Group. Less than two weeks ago, a federal judge ruled that the group violated federal law by failing to represent a balance of viewpoints (all five members were hand-picked skeptics) and failing to hold public hearings.

Clearly "the decision to change the policy was made ahead of assembling scientific evidence to support that decision."

PS: There will be legal challenges to the EPA repeal of the endangerment finding, and those challenges will cite the procedural violations in the operation of the Climate Working Group. But it's not yet clear how far those violations will undermine the EPA action.

Internal DOE Documents Confirm Climate Report Was Created to Justify Administration Policy

Facts are supposed to shape policy—not the other way around. That key principle is being undermined as the Trump administration seeks to reverse an important pillar of U.S. climate policy. In its proposal last year to repeal the Endangerment Finding—a critical foundation of the Environmental Prot
