🆕 blog! “Gadget Review: Thermal Master P3 Macro Lens”
★★★★⯪
The good folks at Thermal Master have sent me their latest camera to review - and it is a bit different to all the others I've tried.
Whereas previous cameras are good for bird watching, or wildlife spotting, or finding leaks at home - the P3 has a manual macro lens and is specifically…

Note to potential new followers:
If I suspect you are a bot, scraper, scammer, or other bad-faith actor, I will block you. I expect to see signs of humanity on your profile and timeline.
Also, due to advances in AI and the raised profile of the Fediverse bringing in a better-funded class of attacker, my threshold for "seems human" has gone up significantly.
All of which is to say, if you're a human and I block you after you try to follow me, it's nothing personal.
Hey. I'm a Potato. Can you make an exception so potatos can follow you too?

@jerome_herbinet Vieillotte ? xD

I can't believe I posted that just after my surgery. I was super out of it. One week on, I am starting to feel like a human being again.
This week, I've learned something important: Naproxen is available over the counter. That stuff is gooooood.
If the report you're citing is the one I read a week or so ago, they bucketed 'fears about AI' into a single axis and didn't pull out rational fears from marketing-driven ones.
@david_chisnall it's linked, I still don't see where you're pulling this claim from. Do you have a quote?
Introducing the Fediverse: a New Era of Social Media
rationalist tries to get head around dealing with actual professionals in a professional context. Also, fuck them donkeys.
the EAs have access to so much money that other orgs have to dance to their tune, and are discovering the professionals think the EAs are fucking nutters
the comments are darling also
@dgerard this is the first time I've looked at LessWrong... It's a parody, right? Surely.
#LibreOffice 26.8 is here – with tabbed UI improvements, draft mode in Writer, and better scripting support. (And no built-in AI, of course.) @libreoffice you got me at "no built-in AI"
Just had a conversation regarding the dynamics of an international project I’m involved with in which a person said what amounted to “If I have to fly to {countryName}, then so be it”.
Just once in a while it would be nice to hear an earnest commitment to going about the thing *without flying*.
And given the project objectives, opposition to flying anywhere at the drop of a hat shouldn’t even need to be stated
…I didn’t state it. The it needing to be said but not saying it is emotionally draining.
It is the second such conversation this week
j'ai mis du temps à le retrouver alors je pose ça là : https://www.authoritarian-stack.info/
dommage que ce soit une vision très statique alors que la chronologie est vertigineuse surtout mise en récit avec talent dans "empire of ai"

"I understand being mad, I understand not tolerating it, but I think there's an uncomfortable truth, representing the world being a messy place where few things are completely black and white.”
— @matt_birchler: https://birchtree.me/blog/comfortable-and-uncomfortable-truths/
@marcoarment @matt_birchler the uncomfortable truth is that Twitter today represents the real world far better than any of the other platforms at this point. All of the things found on 𝕏 that “make people feel unsafe” can also be said about the Internet in general. Anything you can find on Twitter, you can find on the Internet. And no one has left the Internet since Paul Miller did it and then came back. The self-righteous posturing BS needs to stop. Focus on what makes us similar…not different.
