@strypey I suppose it would be very specialist high level management for some industries or genuine rare technical skills, that just couldn't be filled by a recent graduate. The one thing I hate more than the idea of commonly-skilled jobs going to foreigners instead of kiwis, is giving high paid specialist or management roles to absolute incompetent charlatans through nepotism. So that is where potentially visas need to be considered on a case-by-case basis, but going back to my point specifically about businesses selling vape products, I don't believe a role exists in that organisational pyramid that can't be filled by a local. You could perhaps argue perhaps for importing a very talented manager to sort out problems in the logistics side, but it's quite a weak argument when we could instead invest in free courses that allows current residents to upskill and meet those needs before even starting operations for such a business. It just doesn't seem good practice to even start a vape shop without knowing you can staff it adequately using local labour.

... but it does presume that kiwis want to live in the places those jobs need to be done. The majority of the population now live in the 5 biggest cities, and although people do move out to the regions, it's usually to retire or run hobby businesses, not to take up existing local jobs there.
So as I say, I'm open to the idea of visas for a wider range of jobs in the regions than the city.

@evilpaul_atebit tbh, i wonder if there's just transpilers that go GLSL -> WGSL that you could just use if you didn't feel like dealing with that (but I guess maybe that leaves perf / features on the table)
@halcy @evilpaul_atebit Both the Tint and Naga WGSL compilers are able to ingest SPIR-V and emit WGSL. Naga also has a GLSL front end so it can do GLSL -> WGSL I believe. Not everything in SPIR-V can be converted, but we try to do as much as we can. The GLSLang compiler can convert GLSL to SPIR-V if needed. The DXC compiler can do HLSL -> SPIR-V.

If the independent, non-slop web has any future at all, then now must be the time for every firefox fork to commit to working together to maintain a hardfork isolated from Mozilla.
It's a project that is too large to be handled by any small project alone (and maybe even all of them combined), but one that is too important to left under the guidance of an organization like Mozilla.
Without such bold co-operation I fear we have already lost.

Folks, if your personal outlook is "this is too hard / it will never happen" - that's great, I have that voice in my head too and I also believe it occasionally.
But sometimes you have to tell that voice to shut the fuck up, and actually try to do something that seems hard or difficult or even impossible.
Especially when the other choice is to do nothing and watch the world rot.
You are, of course, free to do that but I am not, and I'd prefer you did it somewhere not in my replies.

Looks really nice. I’m pretty firmly in the JetBrains ecosystem and BBEdit for light weight stuff. If not this is probably where I would end up. Panic puts a lot of care into their products.
