Japanese researchers linked Long COVID to a dormant herpes virus reactivated by SARS-CoV-2 infection. This process triggers production of the SITH-1 protein, which was identified in about 70% of patients. The SITH-1 protein may contribute directly to brain dysfunction, fatigue, and depression.

@klausfiend They're just trying to satisfy everyone. The reality is that a hard rule screws different parts of the country. Too dark in the morning during Winter, etc. Actually, if they pass something with an opt-out it lets states experiment and give it up if it doesn't work. It will cause massive confusion not knowing which state has which time but it's better than a forced everyone one way or another. It is notable though that permanent daylight savings time was tried during the Nixon administration, and after some kids were killed in the dark waiting for school buses they terminated the experiment early.
