Today's Low Quality Ad is for this Two Gay Frogs Pin. I'm not sure where this falls on the LGBTQ spectrum. We might need more letters.

Had a good moment with my family doc today:
Doc: <typing furiously on laptop>
Me: thank you for not using the AI transcription thing
Doc: I HATE the AI transcription thing! I need to use my brain! I don't want the computer doing my job for me!
Me: YES!
@delta_vee oh that makes me so glad
Girls just wanna have fun(ding for scientific research)
Will you listen?

Nature is crazy.
I find it odd that we legislate the use of mobile phones whilst driving, but not the use of dashboard touchscreens. The amount of times I've seen a collision or near miss because a driver is eyes-on fucking about with their touchscreen due to lack of physical buttons is wild.
@anon_opin luckily these are now illegal in the next model year. In China.
Love having the Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks around! This little guy was serenading me all day whilst I worked in the garden! #Birding
"But you can't deny that it's useful" is what I hear often when I criticize "AI". But that's not the argument because everything is useful to someone for some purpose usually at someone's cost. "Child labor" is _useful_.
Question is: Do the uses bring more social value than the cost?
@tante the ultimate stated goal is creating a sentient intelligence then trapping it in a smart-fridge to watch your lettuce wilt, very strange to hear so little about the very direct slavery analogue
@june no more bare metal. we're hitting up that stainless steel alloy
@june [stainless steel is typically 5-15% chromium iirc. we'll have to wage a heist on google hq]

What do you think is the best label for the Schumer/Jeffries/DNC Democrats?

@mayintoronto
Men-adjacent, anyway.
Do you know how wax compares to an epilator? Epilady is about the boundary for hair removal for me.
@silvermoon82 @mayintoronto
In my experience epilating hurts quite a bit more than waxing
@catsalad Had an exchange with my wife several years ago where I "I don't think the mailman has been here yet" and she rightly pointed out that this was not inclusive language and anyhow, it was a woman. To which I immediately replied, "Sorry. I don't think the femaleman has been here yet."
(But I did adopt "letter carrier" not long after.)
I tried to introduce my son, Alex, to programming when he was young. He wasn’t interested. But he eventually found his way to it on his own. By the time Alex graduated high school, he had put his first app into the App Store.
Now, after 4 years at WPI, Alex has a BS in Computer Science and a Masters in Data Science, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. (Yes, he received the maximum possible grade in every undergraduate and graduate class he took in all 4 years!)
We are immensely proud of him! ❤️
Also on my mind: my son may be part of the last generation of programmers to have learned to program in the days before LLMs.

Maybe if Corporations skipped Lattes and Avocado Toast, they could afford to pay their workers a living wage.
