In May 2024 I began wondering about a second 'home' (alongside BSD Cafe as a first home). Much thought, over a very long period – I didn't made a final decision until January 2026.
The eight months there (and here and elsewhere) have helped to reshape my thoughts about what it means to be engaged; what makes an instance a community; and so on.
I don't doubt that the intention of the new rule is good, but the essence of the rule – "Do not promote AI" – repels me.
Incidentally, whilst the stabbing post was not serious (I haven't lost my sense of humour), it was a suitably thought-provoking path to discovery of the new rule.
None of what's above is the point.
@grahamperrin That's fair. You're right: I can't understand a point you deliberately haven't made, and I shouldn't pretend that I do.
I was responding to what I thought your concern might be, and explaining why the rule exists. But if that isn't the point, then I won't try to guess what it is.
You are absolutely free to make that point, including if it is a criticism of the rule or of my decision to introduce it. Disagreement with the rule is not against the rule.
And if you'd rather not elaborate, I respect that too.
I still genuinely regret seeing you leave, but I don't want to turn this into an attempt to convince you to stay.
