Leaving notes on cars with Trump and MAGA bumper stickers can be fun!
I could start a feed of stories about cops using Flock to stalk and terrorize current and former partners and I would never run out of material. https://www.404media.co/florida-deputy-of-the-year-used-flock-to-stalk-ex-held-gun-in-her-mouth-did-a-nazi-salute/
Hey, everyone remember that guy who said the Internet was a passing fad and then, when it was obviously wrong, quickly added a chapter to his autobiography to pretend that he knew it was an important development all along? You know, the guy who was friends with Epstein?
Apparently he now has opinions about AI.
@david_chisnall That same guy allegedly said that 640K was enough for anyone (but has denied saying that).
Curiously, Paul Baran (one of the inventors of packet switching) told me about writing a proposal that required a computer with a whopping 32 KB of memory. It was reviewed by John von Neumann, who didn't think you would need more than 16 B. Paul replied that, if his programmers were as capable as Dr. von Neumann, he could get by with 16 KB too.
@randahl
The idea of having Canada in the EU I like
thank you🤗
@randahl The parallel is frightening.
We have a political party here (currently in the coalition government) promoting exactly the same ideology, albeit couched in much more quiet, "reasonable" tones. They are chipping away at our political and social systems piece by piece.
@98Percent in New Zealand???
What a man is worth to one of Russia's big war-recruiting firms depends on where he's registered: the commission is 150k rubles in Yaroslavl vs. 1M for a Muscovite. An iStories correspondent took one of these jobs for a new investigation. https://meduza.io/en/feature/2026/08/27/istories-investigation-shows-how-russia-recruits-soldiers-for-its-war-against-ukraine-private-firms-targeted-telegram-ads-and-phone-numbers-bought-for-as-little-as-12-cents-apiece

@evacide Here in San Francisco, we have not one, but two Flock lobbyists on the committee that controls local Democratic Party endorsements. And it's going about as you would expect:

the Beaverton going where The Onion wasn’t fast enough to go
@AnarchoNinaWrites I give it 6-8 weeks before we learn the tax money went to Honest Kushner’s Nepalese Construction LLC.
Wait, you mean the trillions we gave a military that can't pass a basic audit were wasted? And our military is basically an expensive movie prop we can't afford to use? How?!
NEW: You don't see this everyday. Wyoming GOP voters rejected a ton of Republicans who wanted to crack down on voting.
They ousted nearly all members of House Elections Committee, incubator of new restrictions.
And: SoS primary was won by a man who rejects fraud claims + defends election workers. https://boltsmag.org/wyoming-gop-primary-secretary-of-state-freedom-caucus/
Just picked up half our straw for the year under an eclipsed moon. COOL. Managed 3 truckloads tonight, will have to get the rest tomorrow.
If the moon is up for you right now, go look at it! It's FREAKY.
@sundogplanets I love that so many of us can do this. I just peeked.
@strypey I've got bored stiff with it. It's sitting in my Continue Watching list and has been for ages.
@dick_turpin
> I've got bored stiff with it
How far in did you get?
I've also found myself running hot and cold with it though. I first watched an episode or 2 in about 2015 and at the time it didn't grab me. Then I watched most of the s01 last year, before drifting off again. But I'm really enjoying s02 and glad I made the effort to come back to it.
I suppose this weekend is as good as any for a Tim Curry marathon. Rocky Horror, clue, Muppet treasure island, the color of magic, doom runners, and a bad audience recording of his run on spamalot.
It’s been almost 90 days since the American people have seen or heard from Mitch McConnell.
We’re still paying his salary.

Why #ODF is the only document format compatible with digital sovereignty: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/08/27/why-odf-is-the-only-document-format-compatible-with-digital-sovereignty/ #openSource #foss #freesoftware
@libreoffice Completely agree, and I will always recommend ODF for saving office documents. I use it for all my own documents.
If we want to own our own ideas, data, and standards, then we have to reprogram our thinking that compatibility with MS is more important.
Redefine the narrative. Build on ODF as OUR standard. And let MS catch up with us.
I feel better now. :-)
