La pomme est bien meilleure que l'orange voilà je l'ai dit.
@Meylody je désapprouve la take
Our contributors @patepelo and @gedankenstuecke talked with the team of Humanitarian OpenStreetMap:
About how CoMaps helped in the first response after the earthquakes in Venezuela - and how CoMaps generally can be a good fit for humanitarian use cases!

Jesus. It’s a difficult week. Tim Curry is also one of the Saints of the Bookhouse.
His delicious antici-
-pation is part of our DNA.
The Cooperative World Map just had a full update! 🌍 It now lists every co-op we know about up to early May 2026, and the interface is fully translated into Spanish, Hindi, and French.
We've also been fixing bugs and tidying up the interface behind the scenes, so browsing the map should feel noticeably smoother.
You can explore it by searching coop world map.
How to open portal to the Cat Dimension
@catsalad dim the lights and open the cat window, of course! queers may have internal portals and/or mirrors...
Who says AI doesn't create new kinds of businesses: I would hire someone to re-transcribe all the LLM output I have to trudge through back into human language. I don't have trouble with the volume, I can just feel my brain trying to eject my temporal lobes out my ears as each passing word makes becoming alingual more appealing.
It has been online since 1st July, is single-user (just me), and runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero W powered by NetBSD, directly on its SD card.
It consumes just under 1W.
Its database is this size:
-rw------- 1 little wheel 109289472 Aug 26 15:14 littlefedi.db
That is, just a little over 100 MB. Yes, MB.
Its average CPU load is extremely low.
It is perfectly usable both from the web interface and from Mastodon API apps.
I have 179 followers and 169 followings, and it doesn't bat an eye.
I promise myself to use it more, and I will.
You don't need Big Tech to communicate with others.
You don't need an expensive data center to exist online.
Because we are people, and the bits are just extensions of our voice.
"We will not back down, we will keep doing what we have been doing all these years and we will do whatever is in our possibility to counter the false allegations made by a politically desperate administration with the sole intention of swaying people and media attention away from their own violence and warmongering.
Antifascism and anticapitalism are not terrorism. Protesting is not terrorism. And everyone has the right to speak out and to struggle for humanity."
I'm sure websites whose HTML is so bad machines can't parse it will take time to make a Markdown version of all their content. Sure. https://acceptmarkdown.com/

Decided to check Element X again. Looks like its support for spaces has improved, though it's still not as nice as Schildichat Next (which is a fork). I'll keep playing with it, but it appears Schildichat Next inherits its bugs with marking rooms read from Element X. Which means it's probably broken in the Rust SDK.
The filter interface in Element X is already growing on me. I think I like it better than the really long list of tabs I end up with in Schildichat Next.
just rereading this and basically Amy and I completely explained this AI shit the first time in 2023
https://davidgerard.co.uk/blockchain/2023/06/03/crypto-collapse-get-in-loser-were-pivoting-to-ai/
everything since is because nobody fucking listened
so much for sweet reason and debate
@davidgerard crypto needed mostly speculation to invent a purpose. AI already has mundane ones: translation, free accessibility, helping non coders to explore ideas, research, education, automation.
If used right its a solid hammer. But humans like to use it as a casino. Like houses, food, water, sneakers, yeah literally everything. The interesting question isn’t whether the hammer is evil. It’s who profits from these fairy tales. Blaming the object is a waste of time.
Most of the internet is becoming unusable due to “AI” slop and now large parts of the remaining usable part are being branded as terrorism. WTF. (Autistici/Inventati is being put on a terror list, check out their website:
https://www.autistici.org/)
Maybe we really ought to start from scratch?
(semi-private means for this purpose, non-publicly searchable video platform)
@sundogplanets Google has a guide that includes a description of how to limit search. You can add a file named robots.txt but also configure a web site to use HTTP headers to indicate that a page should not be indexed. This may be good enough if your objective is to prevent content from showing up in standard search engines. It will not prevent someone from indexing it or copying it. You can protect things further by requiring a login to access the material.
Not enough folks are talking about Tim Curry's incredible performance as Lord of Darkness in Ridley Scott's cult classic Legend (1985).
Honestly, that's all I remember from the movie! 😂
@jaredwhite And the first thing I think of when I see/hear about Tim Curry!
A Legend Indeed!
