Billionaires. What kind of sick individual thinks living in this is a better idea than looking after the world and treating people poorer than you with kindness and empathy 😞

@sl007: Was ist Menschy für ein ActivityPub-Client? Ist das https://www.menschy.io/?
Nein.

@catsalad Deedlit (Record of Lodoss War) is the first who comes to mind.
@ellie Deedlit's ears are definitely longer than Freiren's!

This Is For Everyone is now available in paperback.
You might recognise the face on the cover...a younger me at MIT in 1998 when 150 million people used the web. Today it's roughly 6 billion.

#Fedilab updates will no longer reach Google Play store. What's your position:
@apps I went ahead and migrated, which was pretty easy, but with F-Droid warning me that it's about to also go away too... I'm a little confused at what the future holds...
I can't help you there, but here's a song from my childhood full of punnery based on the fact that the standard playground taunt for a glasses wearer is "brilleslange", "glasses snake" (spectacled cobra), and additional word play based on such coincidences as sebra (zebra) being pronounced just like se bra (see well) which 'rhymes' with kobra and how "slange" means both snake, hose and inner tube ...
@btuftin @futurebird I felt the need to google "brilleslange sång lyriker", and helpfully found them at https://www.songlyrics.com/knutsen-ludvigsen/brilleslange-lyrics/ 😄 It seems quite tonguetwisterish :-)

I usually don't give a response to polls until they're done but since I just published a blog post on this topic it feels dishonest not to link to it.

@evan can you maybe please guide us on how to proceed once the plugin is integrated on static sites?what's next? how can we connect it to the fediverse for mastodon to be able to see it and for people to connect/follow? if i'm on a different instance of mastodon what should i ask of my admin to make it happen?
@dazzr Not a practical solution for the world at large, only for extremely dedicated and single-minded techies.
@lauren Disagree. TechBro exploitation won't go away if we don't resist. We're talking kind of Internet hygiene. Start w/ adblocking and uBlock Origin. Just a browser extension. Work your way up to DNS-based filtering.
I neither consider myself extremely dedicated and single-minded. And it's not just techie, but also classic boycott, avoid and resist: don't use their services, block 'em, don't buy from Amazon.
I was techie enough to set up Pi-hole in my network. You'll learn while you go. Since years, it's just running. But you have to complement tech w/ personal attitude. Nothing most of us cannot learn. Even not very expensive - it' all FOSS, and the majority of expenses is now donations to the projects I have adopted.
Just don't do GOOGLE (and other digital parasites).
@ajroach42 Plate Up! is on Steam and goofy fun, and I keep coming back to it. We play local multiplayer, and I play it solo pretty often. I haven't tried remote multiplayer for it
Farming sims: Stardew Valley, Dinkum
Not multiplayer (I think) but really good, especially if you like puzzles: Tunic, Toem, Chants of Sennar, Monaco
I haven't played Ratchet & Clank in ages. Those games were so much fun
Beyond Good and Evil was remastered a couple years ago. It's one of my favorite PS2 games
@belehaa Plate up does look cute.
I played Stardew Valley a few years ago, and enjoyed it.
I haven't encountered Dinkum.
I did recently finish A Rift Apart, that was nice.
Hell is other people's Makefiles
@evan and often your own
@RunRichRun @MarcAbrahams The past is not a guarantee of any particular future. For example, we haven't had a global nuclear war, but on several occasions that was missed by just minutes and the decisions of single individuals. The alternative timelines of a dead Earth are so close by you can almost smell them.
