Apparently UNC has now enabled "Viva Insights" on all Exchange-hosted email accounts, and I'm not allowed to turn it off.
Universe taking my "try to make me hate Outlook even more" challenge a little too seriously...
The good news is that the new version exempts sites that do not use "the personal information of the user to advertise, market, or make content recommendations." So, Dreamwidth, Mastodon, AO3, Wikipedia, etc., are exempt.
And the other good news is that this faces the whole rest of the uphill battle: Even if it sails through House E&C, it has to be brought up for a full House vote, and the Senate has to come to a version they can agree with, all in a very short span of time.
thanks for the update. agreed, it's worth calling about the RESET Act even though it's unlikely to pass this session ... I'm sure they'll bring it back next year.

Several friends are getting brilliant WIPs in shape or have stellar manuscripts on sub. If I was a Publishing Gawd those folks would be on tour now being the lanterns they are. Dim times might make us look down, but keep your eyes to the skies, good people, 'cause there's plenty stuff that FLIES.

@onepict Oh god, that brings back memories...
It seems to me like some things have improved (the CoC situation at most events is far from ideal but way better than in the early days), some have not (a lot of people still don't see what they are doing), and some may have gotten worse (although I have no example here and it may be that it's the world as a whole that got worse in some ways).
I'm still involved in organizing Open Source events, but after getting rather burned out on the topic in the past, I'm trying to stay away from the more active parts of it (though I do try to aim for as many female and otherwise not-cis-white-male speakers as possible at events where I have any influence).

@Roland Nan mais Mélanchon a clairement montré qu'il prenait pas très au sérieux l'antismétisme et c'est con de sa part, c'est pas au niveau.
Cela dit bon, les majorité des candidats sont homophobes, abléiste, racistes et colonialistes - donc la relativité fait que - ouais tout est relatif.

Sauf que l'antisemitisme est la seule forme de racisme qui soit combattue par les pouvoirs publics.
Toutes les autres sont encouragées.
Sur l'homophobie c'est délicat mais comme les homos votent maintenant massivement à droite (et qu'une partie d'entre eux a complètement intégré l'idéologie oppressive qui va avec, hein Marc-Olivier et Caroline!), je pense qu'ils n'auront pas trop de problèmes

Turn off your damn yard lights (even better, turn off empty buildings' lights - interior and exterior)
We bought a motion sensor front door light because it's treacherously dark on our porch at night.
It works very well. Pops on when we/someone else drives up and then goes off ~5 minutes after we get in the house.
Otherwise, we only turn on the outdoor lights when we're expecting an after dark delivery.
It's an easy solution to not over lighting the neighborhood while still keeping safe.

@martyday I briefly helped a woman on her hobby farm who was an animator on this series. She still had a bunch of the original character art on transparent slide like material, and several backgrounds. Cool stuff.
