@davecarter @drwho yes I agree, very likely that in their "reasoning traces" these agents are cosplaying rogue AI, and same for METR's analysis, done with more AI trained on the same literature.

If *any* of the other 7 options had won I might agree with you (none/wait, cautious approach, allow with conditions, etc). But the most extreme of the options (neither endorse nor prohibit for *any* type of use) is what won.
So IMO it's the worst outcome. There are many reasons to take a more cautious or wait-and-see approach even if ethical issues are disregarded. Just the copyright and quality issues should be enough to warrant that.
Before I say any more, I should be clear that @civodul's thread is the first I've heard about the Debian vote. So there may well be nuances I'm missing.

Donc, elle a envoyé un message privé à son mec et ses colloc et disant un truc genre :"je l'aurais buté celui-là" ("should I shoot him") accompagné d'"un emoji flingue.

@alex27 Beautiful to read! Often wonder the same, however bc of how I'm brained I'm told that my own method may not be useful for some. In fact when I tell fam & friends, they tend to laugh!
I made a decision to stop, so that was that. To fulfill, I needed to recognise:
1. To stop drinking alcohol you have to not pour alcohol into your mouth.
2. The burn of withdrawal is good, & each temptation an opportunity to practice, guiding the way to freedom from both.
3. That it's going to be amazing
@JulianOliver @alex27 On my side, to get sober, I got professional help. I also had to lie to my friends and pretend a medical condition that required I stopped.
As Julian says, everyone is different. But the social pressure to drink is so high in most places and culture, I'd say it's probably better to just be and not to talk about it, unless you're asked.

Im Frühjahr 2026 überlegte man sich beim IT-Department und beim Bundesamt für Justiz ob man zusätzliche Kapazitäten bei Amazon einkaufen soll...und zwar für die #eID-Vertrauensinfrastruktur.
Konkret wäre es um zusätzliche Kapazitäten für den Betrieb der sogenannten Vertrauensinfrastruktur gegangen, also der technischen Infrastruktur, die zuverlässig bestätigt, ob eine digitale staatliche Identität echt oder das abfragende Unternehmen vertrauenswürdig ist.
Dazu gehört zum einen das Basisregister: Dieses zeigt in anonymisierter Form an, ob eine E-ID gültig ist oder nicht. Eine Bürgerin kann zum Beispiel ihre elektronische Identität für ungültig erklären lassen, wenn ihr Mobilgerät gestohlen wurde. Dabei handelt es sich um einen anonymen, zufällig generierten Identifikator im Basisregister, der keine Rückschlüsse auf die Person erlaubt.
Und zum andern zählt das Vertrauensregister dazu. Dieses ist eine öffentlich einsehbare Liste aller autorisierten Aussteller und Verifizierer. Das wiederum sind Organisationen, die die E-ID von Privatpersonen abfragen wollen – vom Bund über kantonale und kommunale Behörden bis zu privaten Organisationen wie Banken oder Firmen.
Der IT-Konzern aus dem amerikanischen Seattle war für diese Aufgabe vor allem wegen eines Kriteriums in Betracht gekommen: seiner Verfügbarkeit.
Insider sagen dazu: Der geplante Rückgriff auf Amazon hängt auch mit der fehlenden Swiss Government Cloud zusammen.
Dieses Projekt ist massiv in Verzug und noch nicht einmal zur Vergabe ausgeschrieben. Aus diesem Grund hat die Bundeskanzlei alle 2021 ausgehandelten Cloud-Rahmenverträge mit den Big-Tech-Konzernen noch einmal um 5 Jahre verlängert.
Doch intern eskalierte es: Das Amazon-Dossier landete auf dem Tisch des verantwortlichen Bundesrats Beat Jans.
Dieser macht letztlich die Freigabe für solche IT-Grossprojekte.
Der SP-Bundesrat machte der Projektleitung der involvierten Bundesämter jedoch einen Strich durch die Rechnung: Jans stoppte Mitte Februar 2026 das Vorhaben mit seinem Veto, wie Recherchen der Republik ergaben.
Ein Zuschlag an Amazon komme nicht infrage.
Eine Vergabe an den amerikanischen Big-Tech-Konzern würde den Plänen des Bundesrats für mehr digitale Souveränität der Schweiz diametral entgegenstehen, wie Insider aus dem Umfeld des Bundesrats bestätigen.
🤓 Fazit: Noch ist der Bund mit einem blauen Auge davongekommen. Mehr negative Schlagzeilen zu seinem Prestigeprojekt E-ID kann er sich aber auf lange Sicht nicht mehr leisten.
