After I got the "right answer", I asked myself the question that I ask all AI boosters when they say that it worked, which is "'worked' compared to what?". And I realize that the pre-AI tools for finding solutions via human connection have all decayed as a result of the funding pumped into the AI versions. Case in point being Stack Overflow; SO has degraded so much that it didn't even *occur* to me to post my question there.
The urge to keep all the tabs open is not a recent thing.

As one proud leftist to another, no disagreement. Just saying that having the term 'progressive' also provides shelter for some who have succumbed to right wing propaganda equating leftists with communists. Can think of numerous folks who would reject being identified as a leftist, but would embrace being a progressive. It's all framing, but framing matters.

I think some lessons of history can be learned also from the treatment by Soviet communist ideologues of different types of the political left.
Even from Lenin's article Left-Wing Communism: an Infantile Disorder, on a subject that was very hot in the 1920s and the 1930s.
I suppose the title sounds rather differently today than it did in 1920.
(I won't undertake a summary of the article, I'm afraid.)
I'll just add a few venomous labels that were used very widely by Soviet propaganda for some on the left in the West:
"opportunists",
"revisionists",
"traitors of the working class".

I look at the information I have, what the US government has reportedly demanded and what becomes immediately clear to me is that we are simply not negotiating a trade deal. The US demands look like the kinda "trade deals" the British Empire used to impose on countries they just bombarded into surrender - it's colonialism. And lemme just say Trump ain't exactly beating the Hitler rap because Hitler's plan for Eastern Europe was in effect, colonialism. This is all unhinged violence but in suits.
