Netherlands, Rotterdam was pretty good at least for adults and older children as you can just tap debit/credit cards (or Apple, Google, Samsung, Fidesmo, .etc).

For younger children you can use the RET app to buy a daily ticket but I later realised that if you are just making a couple of journies it is easier and can be cheaper to use another card and pay as though they are adults.

Like all systems that use payment cards directly you need enough for all members of your party.

I have never said that making transient copies of large amounts of data is bad,because I think it's good. I think the Internet Archive is right to make copies of the web. I think Aaron Swartz was right to make a copy of JSTOR. I support the existence of search engines.

The problem with AI isn't that someone took all the documents and analyzed them. That is socially beneficial activity that should be supported.

Not the graph itself—it's horrifying—but the misinterpretation of how urgent it is. At 500ppm, CO2 begins to have measurable impact on human cognition. We're almost there.

But it also means there's *no margin any more*. Any closed room now quickly results in CO2 issues in humans.

It's not a smooth, linear thing—we hit a point where it's a huge problem all of a sudden, with big consequences.

As Andrew Marcinko (DurhamU) points out too often organisations (both public & private/commercial) espouse values publicly that their actions betray:

'Employees notice that gap. They remember it. It's hugely impactful. And the costs — trust, commitment, goodwill, retention — outlast whatever the numbers were meant to justify'!

Management's organised hypocrisy has long term costs; a key aspect of both the UK's rubbish management & our economic travails!
