@cohentheblue @catsalad It’s a contest to see who can be fastest in finding a cage that matches the one revealed. Quite an adrenaline rush!
J'ai rêvé qu'on ouvrait un squat dans un centre des congrès, qu'on y mettait du gros son, et que pour le faire savoir je gravais des invitations sur… des tranches de melon ? (ça marchait super bien !)
SFC announced today a multi-pronged, comprehensive initiative to deal with Bambu Lab's AGPLv3 copyleft violations, and with software right to repair for 3D printer users generally.
https://sfconservancy.org/news/2026/may/18/bambu-studio-3d-printer-agpl-violation-response/
The initial plan includes forks, reverse engineering, and further investigation. As always, litigation remains a last resort.

@David That is strange. I had no problems.
@DrEvanGowan I'll check again, but nothing happened, basically. There is a tiny keyboard icon in the bottom right. If I right click on it, I get a bunch of settings that don't do much. If I left click on it, a small message briefly tells me "Japanese input" except that nothing changes.
@libreoffice I love to use LibreOffice and love to give always something back. So also in donations. Thank you and Keep up the Good Work!
@hollinger Thanks a lot 😊
"US imposes sanctions on Gaza flotilla organisers amid Israeli crackdown
Rights advocate accuses Washington of using ‘terrorism label’ to shut down Palestine activism internationally.
The United States has imposed sanctions on four activists for their involvement in the flotillas trying to break Israel’s siege on Gaza, alleging without evidence that organisers of the vessels are trying to reach the Palestinian territory “in support of Hamas”.
The sanctions on Tuesday come as the Israeli military continues to intercept the latest fleet of Gaza-bound ships."

@bigiain this is beautiful ;D
@cwebber In my email to my MP, I looked up his longstanding email address on haveibeenpwned.com, listed all the times the companies entrusted with his data had failed to keep it confidential, and all his data that had been breached - then argued how much worse those breaches would have been if C-22 had been in effect and the companies had been required to retain even more data.
Regarding development tools and data, it's interesting to me that some of us have spent years with certain things being inaccessible or difficult for us to access; e.g. charts, cluttered reports with weird and wonderfully inaccessible web interfaces, other complex visual representations of important data. But now, all of a sudden, people are making APIs and tools (often command line tools) to retrieve that data with the primary goal of making it more digestible by LLMs, yet those tools even by themselves just make the information so much more accessible. I feel kinda conflicted about this. On one hand, it's great that it's more accessible to me now. On the other hand, it's weird to feel that our struggles never really mattered enough for anyone to solve them, but now that we have LLMs, we suddenly have this urgent need to make information more easily accessible and digestible and folks are willing to put work into that.
@decryption I think the blanket I have is faulty. I turned it on yesterday and it barely has any heat in it.
@andyb if i put my blanket on max heat, it's far too hot for me - so yeah, swap it for a new one at aldi while they still have stock

I do zero analytics on any of my web traffic, so this is just a guess, but I should be surprised if many people come to my sites via Google.
I am just a bloke with a Raspberry Pi running a website and two blogs.
I suspect that, of whatever traffic I get, most comes from links I (and others) post here, and from RSS subscribers.
Similarly, I don't think that I found any of the blogs or sites that I read regularly via a search engine.
Word of mouth (webrings, people posting about stuff they've enjoyed / their own work etc.) ftw.

what the hell is a Hawaiian bagel
@deutrino surely that is just a pineapple ring with cream cheese on it?
Wow -- the president of CalArts got BOOED OFF THE STAGE at commencement last weekend. Then one of the rich, literally inaccessible board members stood up to chastise the students. Talk sbout cant read the room!
CalArts (California institute for the arts) has been in trouble in for some time
I was faculty there. tuitions are insane, millions wasted on consultants that return useless reports, school never had money for snything including repairs, yet admin hss bloated up two or three times. I dod Academic Council two years; the board never showed up *once*. They fended off a strike with salary boosts (mine from 40k! To 60k, still not great) but then never fixed snything else.
There seems to be no plan.
A/C season just started....
This is fine.
