They’ve decided it might be safe to stand in the same room as the traffic cone, just to get out of the hot sun.

But they’re not very happy about it.

The real human-donkey points of connection, as work animals, as companions, as art subjects, as ecological co-participants, etc., are much more interesting (even when they are sad or troubling) than cutesy AI juxtapositions. This 1960s John Drysdale shot of a cat sitting on a donkey represents a triad of participation--cat, donkey, photographer. I can't speak to whether maximal consent was achieved here--it isn't always--but it really happened, at least, & that counts for something

I think I've said this before but in the relatively short time between when #asstodon took off (late 2022) and now, poking around for donkeys online has become a lot less fun because of AI slop. (I don't have access to IRL donkeys, sadly, so I'm always filtering my posts through existing artifacts and my own peculiar sensibilities. This suits me fine as a chronicler and interpreter more than creator, if that makes sense--but I could do without the AI garbage for several reasons.) +

@alienghic I can't speak for the entire #asstodon community but that's the glory of it--post there if you want! I'm sure some would appreciate 😂
