due to #wildfires raging across Europe, people had to evacuate Burrolandia, a sanctuary for burros & other equines. it’s also a farm, so they left all the animals out of their stalls. when they came back, they found the burros had organized all the animals in the middle of the farm to avoid the fires & smoke that luckily stopped meters away from the property.

The real human-donkey points of connection, as work animals, as companions, as art subjects, as ecological co-participants, etc., are much more interesting (even when they are sad or troubling) than cutesy AI juxtapositions. This 1960s John Drysdale shot of a cat sitting on a donkey represents a triad of participation--cat, donkey, photographer. I can't speak to whether maximal consent was achieved here--it isn't always--but it really happened, at least, & that counts for something
