lot of that going around
looks like I'm taking Optus to the TIO over some billing bullshit - my NBN service was disabled/churned on the 27th of August, my card charged the full amount on the 28th and my service "cancelled" on the 30th - now they're refusing to even give a pro-rated refund when really I'm entitled to a full refund considering i couldn't use the NBN service they billed me for
@decryption man, I went through something similar when I tried to cancel my Telstra NBN service years ago. took me 3 attempts and an escalation to CANCEL my service that we were no longer using.

@randahl
Ignoring Nazis and not falling for all the ragebait that is supposed to draw you away from the real Nazi shit are two very different things.
@bagder how about a talk AFTer #fosdem at @cfgmgmtcamp in Gent ? )
@krisbuytaert @cfgmgmtcamp heh, well I would include that in the general request. The last two years people have invited me to new things there *after* I got my flight tickets and it feels annoying and unnecessary
He's cheating on you on Discord
@onepict @cwebber I feel we're going back to 1980s where everything was proprietary systems other than small custom projects (and even those ran on proprietary hardware) - although networking and data interchange is likely to remain at a fairly advanced level as its needed for business transactions..

If you intend to invite people (like me for example) to events in Brussels the crazy week before #FOSDEM in 2027 - do that many months ahead of time please.

@leodurruti and I wasn’t familiar with the band so thank you for the introduction! I’m always interested in hearing new heavy psyched out sounds 🤘
Speaking of, I’ve been listening to a great deal of Dope Purple over the summer

I know you all know this, but if you're doing food preserving, follow recipes from a reputable source. I made freezer jam today, so it wasn't really important, but I saw some real doozies when looking for a recipe.
One said "remove as many stones as you desire", as if there's a smooth vs crunchy debate re plum pits in your jam.

@jdp23 @cwebber @ricci there is an alternative universe where BS listens to this, and makes different, better decisions. Where they help Blacksky and work with it instead of hindering it, for example.
But that's not the world we inhabit, and that's actually on BlueSky for making specific decisions in a specific way.
And just to be clear I recognize there was and still is a lot to criticize about Mastodon etc. And I've done some of that critique as well, in fact.
There are certainly differences, and agreed that an alternate-universe Bluesky could certainly make different and better decisions. Then again, there are also similarities, or at least analogies.
In any case, we are where we are ... with my activist hat on I look at the ecosystems and software platforms as imperfect but potentially-useful prototypes. But with my cynic hat I mostly think it's really funny that Bluesky botched this so badly and predictably!
Don't let anyone tell you digital rights are not important enough. It's a fight we *must* win if we are to stand a chance of winning the fights that *do* matter.
“...there are far more pressing issues than how we regulate the net, from climate change to economic injustice. But every one of those fights will be won or lost on the internet, which makes the fight for the net the most foundational fight, if not the most important.”
