Maybe the collapse of the computer hardware industry will trigger the resurgence of "dumb" devices. 15 years or so ago, my TV did not need RAM. Neither did my refrigerator, or microwave. Maybe, just maybe, there will be a deshittification.

@carpetbomberz Yeah, I think the podcast episode goes through figuring out what was going on. No one really knew at the start where the allergy came from, kind of like how mysterious Lime disease was for so long.

Ye gods. The thundering hoard of tourists with poor train and luggage etiquette that got in at Köln Hbf is causing all sorts of chaos. Most of them don't have seat reservations. So are grabbing seats only to be evicted when another passenger with a reservation kicks them out a few minutes later. It's been going on for 15 mins now...

Incidentally, I just placed an online supermarket delivery order via Amazon (because I need a food drop for stuff I can't carry upstairs right now) and their unit price calculations on groceries are broken, looks like a multiply instead of divide error to go from pack size to price per kg. Feels like AI-induced enshittification has hit the big boys.

Nächste Woche findet das KlimaCamp in Altrei statt, ich bin von Freitag bis Sonntag vor Ort. Ursprünglich wollte ich einen Workshop über das Fediverse halten, welches sich nun aus diversen Gründen auf nächstes Jahr verschieben wird.
Dennoch werde ich eine Kleinigkeit vorbereiten und hoffe, dass sich einige Menschen dafür interessieren werden.

What's the word for that emotion where you encounter something that you've made your life's work and special interest and have put a lot of time effort and study into it and then burnt out completely and now whenever you encounter it you physically recoil and don't want to learn anything new about it or hear about it ever again?
