When Microsoft runs 45 gas turbines without a state permit, they get 45 days to fix it and a $1.07M fine (which is petty cash for an operation this size) and don't even have to power down the turbines.

Complex software behaving in unexpected and sometimes harmful ways has been a persistent problem since software was invented. The phenomenon used to be called “bugs” or “defects”, but I guess “going rogue” sounds cooler. @hacrods depends how basic you want because your basic might mean insecure, unreliable etc.

I now have a more sophisticated setup but started with using Mythic Beasts as my domain host because they they provide an API to set / update DNS records. I'd no sooner got that working with an OpenWRT router than I realised it wasn't secure enough, and now have a cheap VPS running Pangolin instead.

Both solutions handle all the obstacles that ISPs have put in the way that make this difficult.

1. Write or translate documentation.

2. Help moderate community spaces.

3. Contribute art and design work.

4. Tell anyone who will listen that Omarchy’s war chest is intended to fund efforts to centralize power in the FOSS space and to reputation-wash extreme rightwing positions.

5. Become a tester.
