Listen, I just think it's weird that the same people who are saying they're worried that AI is going to wipe out humanity are also eager for military contracts that will give AI control of weapons.
@evacide I really do wish that the media and etc would at least *admit* that it's all just a big PR stunt to get those investors throwing money at them. I know the media aren't going to try to stop it, nor are they going to stop trying to help, but at least they could admit it...

A few weeks back I was wailing and gnashing my teeth, about all the perfectly functional hardware that will go to e-waste in Aotearoa because of the 3G turnoff. In response, someone (can't remember who, sorry!) was schooling me on all the reasons why it's impractical to re-purpose obsolete mobile devices, eg as home media servers.
Anyway #TIL there's a company in the EU that's found a creative solution to that problem;

Hey, there are a few desks available in our shared artistic studio space in Bruxelles, called Meyboom!
We are also lowkey a community and you get the immense privilege to gossip at lunch with people like @marieverdeil, @salomemacquet, and my former collectif @osp (including @vinciane, @ccllaarraa, @Ludi) and so much more incredible people that aren't on fedi.
Most of us have desk practice so like graphic design... but we are trying to gather more diversity: podcast crafters, performers, teachers, activists, scenographers, writers, DJs, choregraphers, archivers... and you?

I’m seeing more and more podcasts that used to be available via RSS, and thus, available in any podcast app one chooses, exclusively move to YouTube and I know platforms and walled gardens are easy and convenient because you don’t have to keep up with audiences outside the platform but I will never understand why podcasters want a broad audience, and then they try and force their audience into one app or one platform. You could had a much broader audience if you let everybody choose how they want to watch and or listen to your thing.
Everybody tells me they get more of an audience by having everything exclusively in one platform, but what about the audiences that can’t use the platform you chose?
