Listening to the latest episode of Blake's 7 In Character;

It strikes me that a new series could be made in the B7 universe by following what happened to Jenna after the events of Star One. Plenty of contemporary actors would jump at the chance to play a well written version of Jenna. A smart, tough sometime smuggler and ex-revolutionary, surviving in a post-Federation galaxy.

To #podcasts who don’t rebroadcast old episodes: Thank you for proving that restraint and decency are possible in an ad-funded industry.
And to podcasters who at least title reruns as such: Thank you for not gaslighting us into mistaking déjà vu for content.
Enjoy your hiatus.

Open to Debate is a fantastic show that holds old school, formal, moderated debates on contentious issues. It's recorded live with an audience, broadcast on NPR radio
in the US, and available as a podcast.
Back in 2023 they hosted on a debate on the moot 'Is Wokeness Killing Comedy?', at a comedy club, with 2 comedians as debaters and another as guest moderator. Insightful, as usual, and very entertaining;

Now I'm #listening *again* to Rebuffering, a collaboration by Tizzer and krumpet_love, recorded in 2020. I listened to this about 4-5 times after discovering it last night;
https://blocsonic.com/releases/track/bscomp0054-disc-1-tizzerkrumpet-love-rebuffering/
Subsequent releases on Tizzer's BandCamp reveals them as more of a prog metal experiment. But this track is brooding psychedelic rock, like something from Radiohead's later albums. Their 2014 album Contact Light has more of this jammy vibe.

#HatTip to Alternatives Airwaves, who featured Rebuffering in a Nov 2023 edition of their podcast. A mix of corporate rock, of which the podcast delivers only the intro and outro, and CreativeCommons tracks, played in their full glory;

#Listening to Rich People, a standalone track by Carsie Blanton from 2022;

Licensed under CreativeCommons (BY-NC-ND 3.0), as is all the music she's released since on BC. Maybe everything there, but I didn't check every single release.
#HatTip to the @bsots Radio music podcast for introducing me to this song, in part 2 of the interview with @musicman;

"Joe Dante's Gremlins 2 is essentially just a spoof of the original, and of making sequels in general."

"Māori capitalism is increasingly powerful. The Māori economy continues to grow, but not in a way that's redistributing wealth. Māori have the highest wealth inequality of any ethnic group in NZ, so the gap between the wealthy and the poor, among just Māori is the widest. That is not sustainable."

Veteran constitutional reformer Sir Geoffrey Palmer spoke to RNZ about how to make Parliament more genuinely democratic;
The biggest threat to democracy in Aotearoa is the rise of is a landed aristocracy, and neo-serfdom.
We are at no risk from autocracy. On the contrary we seem to prefer weak tea PMs who are just repeaters for talking points. Helen Clark was the last NZ PM who actually threw her weight around.
"Councils will meet [the state-imposed rates cap], because they would be required to meet it under legislation. It will mean that we are saying no to our communities more often, and it will mean that we are deferring projects that they wanted to see go ahead.
But that might be ok, if it means they've got more money in their back pocket, because their rates bills aren't rising at such a significant rate.
