@lufthans most server memory is going to be ECC, usually RDIMMs that are rather task specific and won’t work with a standard desktop PC and definitely not a laptop.

The real issue has been that at a manufacturing level the bids are so much higher for server parts vs everything else, so production has been skewed way to one end. When it’s “over” there will still be an undersupply of “normal” computers and loads of off lease machines that only work with crazy high wattage PDU’s.

So, I’m a bit pessimistic overall. Consumer computing is going to be buggered up for at least another 3-5 years…

It might be a race between RDIMM capable consumer boards and DIMM compatible memory when AI collapses

If AI doesn't collapse soon, then I presume we'll have RDIMM consumer stuff as server hardware cycles out

My food group (Free Fridges, Food Rescue, and Indoor Gardening) has an official logo now.

( -This feels like a significant benchmark- )

A member of my group proposed us getting an official logo so we could start printing out business cards, make T-shirts and Polos, print out an event booth banner, and make giveaway swag, etc....

...all of which will really help grow the group and its operations as we attend events and reach out in the local community.

We all agreed and that group member initiated everything and got it done.

And here is a wonderful thing. We went to a local art collective and commissioned a local artist to create the logo. (And I believe they did it for free in support of helping us feed our mutual neighbors).

No AI. No Slop. A real local artist. We support each other.
