Is the NZ state similarly at risk of collapse? Very unlikely. Because with clearly defined island borders, and a total population smaller than many US states, it's much easier to find a basic cross-society consensus about how government ought to work.
Yes, we're probably in line for some constitutional reform too. The argument for it has never been clearer than the last 3 years. But although it would certainly benefit us, we can stumble on as a democracy without it, mainly thanks to MMP.

@jpm yeah. And getting the compiler to install at *all* around random mac python version horror was such a chore at the last update that I am loath to try and roll back or forward. Our old pal CH32v003.
@mttaggart this is actually looking a lot better than I remember from the last time I played with it. although I still find myself lightly annoyed that, like all networking software, there is _zero_ accommodation of the reality of residential ipv6, i.e. there is still a strong assumption that nobody cares about dynamic /64 prefix delegations

I keep finding myself wondering… now that it’s becoming clear that most people are going to be priced out of regular electronic device upgrades for years, and the ones that do exist are likely to be much more RAM-constrained then before, are apps/websites going to have to be much more well-optimized than they have been for the past decade or so?
@misty this is a many-dollar question and i am certainly eager to see how it plays out. one thing i'm unclear on is what the collective breaking point is for websites, apps etc getting so wretchedly slow that average nontechnical people start revolting.

The search was on for one of the human's belts, until it came to light that Steely (West Sussex, UK) had borrowed it. It had been involved in some spontaneous play time, but Steely had kept it afterwards and hidden it in one of his hiding spots.
