I am thrilled to share that next week I start as an Open Source Product Marketing Strategist for @igalia 🤩
Delighted to join such a fabulous organization, and I'm looking forward to supporting the growth, development, and adoption of projects like Servo, Moonforge, Wolvic XR, and WPE WebKit.
I think I would like to write a couple of blogposts:
- A rumination over whether or not a "more ethical AI future" is possible *at all*, the post of which is bit more agnostic as to the technical approach taken
- And, I think there was enough interest shown in the last hour, coupled with a *disbelief that any other approach is possible* (which still irks me), that maybe writing up the "Christine Approach to an AI Machine" (which is NOT achieved by beating LLMs to death with more data) might still be worthwhile and interesting.
Well the poll has ended, and holy moly, there was a lot of response here, both to the poll and also in the comments. It was a dead heat for a while there, and still came pretty close to it.
Within the last hour, I kind of skewed the results by throwing this out there, that I *do* have thoughts on how to build a system that isn't based on LLMmaxxing which fulfills these properties, and that seemed to bias a lot of the votes coming in within the last hour towards yes https://social.coop/@cwebber/116969383379862650
But still, a lot of people are clearly disturbed, that any kind of improvement to automation of intellectual labor, even with all of the *main* things that we tend to complain about with *present-day* (and LLM-based) AI removed, making those "better" is unclear if a win given the lack of a change in socioeconomic context.
So... what now?

This is handy for folks that primarily post photographs or other media and want to highlight that when people visit profile account on the web :)

le truc le plus étrange que j'ai eu, c'est du coté de la Rochelle : passage d'un rond point et tout de suite "cloc, cloc, cloc" sur roue arrière. Un boulon de 50mm x 8mm planté dans le flanc du pneu !!
j'ai du batailler avec un pince pour le sortir. le pneu n'était même pas crevé, il a fini sa vie tranquillement sans que je fasse quoique ce soit.
coup de bol, mais on se demande quand même quelles sont les probas pour que ça arrive à se planter comme cela.

@aeva his name was pavan and he's fucking awesome and hero-coded, and he absolutely knew exactly how to make use of that shit. and twitter inc is a corporation, who would profit from that. corps can just borrow money, so "coercion" is not even misleading but even false. but even if intel/amd were able to coerce (in particular, demanding free money in return for not setting a hardware flag), i just think that's a losing strategy for any business.

@aeva the fundamental gambit of the LLM and why it seems worth absolutely every penny invested in it to the institutions still investing in it, is that it will be possible to create a overwhelming technical advantage which is strictly limited to serve the whims of capital--more specifically, one which cannot be replicated under any circumstances except the act of spending a sufficiently vast sum of capital. this means it can't be swapped around and something needs to burn for it to exit the global financial markets
