One of our heroines is Black, and she's featured on the highest denomination banknote. Do you have Black people on your bills? Racism still exists in every country, and of course, it exists here too. The main racism experienced in Argentina is directed at Indigenous populations, and it's an implicit racism, associated with social class. Luckily, we don't have police who persecute people of color or latins, like there, but there is a much more subtle racism. We received 50 times fewer slaves than in Brazil, our neighboring country, where, not many years ago, there were elevators for Black people and cleaning staff. That's not the history of Argentina, however. Argentina's history is one of people from colonialist countries like yours imposing their interests and views on us, and exerting political and economic influence, just as Trump did a year ago or backing up genocides like in the 70s. I invite you to reflect on your position of power, because being Black, or me being gay, doesn't make us immune to perpetuating power narratives. Warm regards.

Our production was not slave-based, they were mostly in the cities. The slave trade basically stopped after 1810 because we were poor. After 1813, any newborn was free. Slave trade was banned in 1820, and any remaining slaves were freed in 1853. During that time, our foreign trade was with the UK, no slaves.
Comparing the census of 1810 and 1870, the black population is what you would expect in terms of life expectation. But, our population grew 10x, and even more later in the early 1900.
Our first president was a mulato, son of a freed black woman. There's a street with his name in every city. In that election, most male population voted, including black and indian people. You say whitening, we say browning, we are all brown. European, Turks, Arabs, Indian, Black, mixed together. There is racism, but it is way more complex than stupid SJW categories
