BYD has developed a technology to eject the battery upon a severe crash in order to prevent fires or explosions.
Tesla has developed a technology to suspend the self driving mode milliseconds before crash so they legally aren't liable when the car catches fire or explodes.

When you "break" the anti-AI software I have on my website that does not illustrate that the software doesn't work well enough: It shows that you are someone who explicitly circumvents people's stated values, preferences and borders. You are an abuser.
It's a test about how you treat other people, whether you respect their dignity. And you failed.

📦️ Jails vs LXC: What’s the Right Choice for Infrastructure? - Klara Systems
https://klarasystems.com/articles/jails-vs-lxc-whats-the-right-choice-for-infrastructure/
@jbz That article is named "Jails vs LXC" but really compares Docker with Jails. Docker and LXC are two different animals. While it's true that LXC containers do use namespaces and cgroups, they don't need container runtimes like runc, containerd, etc. They also don't need OverlayFS (the article is incorrect in this regard). LXC is more like FreeBSD Jails than Docker.

I have a relative who doesn't believe in human caused climate change. He now works to block solar being installed in rural states.
He says that it's unreliable. He doesn't like that the government subsidizes solar & wind.
His views got a fossil company to notice him & hire him to block solar installations. So it's working out great for him, financially. And, since his views are shared by the President of the US, he can point to that too.
Since I'm broke environmentalist, he's the winner.
#WritersCoffeeClub July 13: In what ways do you play with the limits of the genre in which you work?
A lot of folklore writers tend to focus on the "hidden meanings" and "secret truths" of folk tales and so forth.
But while these things _are_ worth analyzing, I also want to emphasize something else: These were people who made up stories in order to entertain themselves on long winter evenings. As a #ttrpg player, this is something I can deeply relate to.
And while the tales reveal a lot about their specific cultural context, their mindset was not all that different from modern day amateur storytellers.
@juergen_hubert This right here. There is an annoying scholastic tendency to try to highlight "hidden meanings" when in reality all they're highlighting are their own culturally blindered assumptions.
Could there be hidden meanings intended at the origins of these folk tales? 🤷♀️ Maybe. Maybe not. But we're never going to find out because of the very nature of how they were transmitted over thousands of years.
@vv I don't use it that much; typically only in very technical situations.
The kilt worked from an airflow perspective. It was really rather pleasant. And it has pockets!
It did not work from a "not getting scratched by thorns or stung by stinging nettles" perspective, so I had to revert to trousers after a couple of games.

"But the LLMs won't just go away, right?"
Says who? The technology is ecologically and economically unsustainable. The people who are most enthusiastic about the slop machines are those who are trying to extract money by building or using them. The rest of us has to deal with the fallout somehow while others reap the benefits (in fictional valuations, not actual profits, mind you).
The technology is a failure. What is keeping it alive is tech bro fanaticism paired
with capitalist sociopathy.
