Another Google measure aiming to lock down Android.
"On Android, the new QR code reCAPTCHAs require Google Play services, which are only available in the official Android version provided by Google."
"What would happen if we stopped acting as if the primordial
form of work is laboring at a production line, or wheat field,
or iron foundry, or even in an office cubicle, and instead
started from a mother, a teacher, or a caregiver?

We might be forced to conclude that the real business of
human life is not contributing toward something called the
economy but the fact that we are all, and have always been,
projects of mutual creation."

@halcy There's beware, as well.
@halcy
(And I guess that means also there's the genre on the other side of the morphism, bewave.)
@craiggrannell Man, Apple just keeps getting worse the more I hear about it.
@coffee_tomorrow My hope is that with the guy responsible for this shit now gone and a product-first veteran about to be CEO, there might be some course correction. My fear is there won't be.
there should be more ware overall, really. we have hardware, software, firmware (so several levels of hardness), cyberware (implying the existing of a yet undiscovered non-cyber type of ware), if you're currently a shadowrunner there would be wetware so there must also be dryware and, somewhere in between, moistware.... just all kinds of ware
@halcy There's beware, as well.
The clematis on the shed are providing a big show just now.
Plus, from the activity around it I suspect it’s got at least two birds nests in it.

And he was essentially murdered by MIT, the US government, and the copyright industry at age 26 for attempting to liberate academic knowledge.
Meanwhile, folks wholesale downloading the Internet today are heralded as the new captains of industry.
Orion’s Belt is a waist of space.
Something would be missing from the exhibition anyway. There would be no accompanying manuscripts with erasures, interlinings, and marginal notes to show the author at his craft.
erasures and interlinings might be fun artifacts, but to the author, they are noise. marginal notes though—metatextual notes to self—this is absolutely real
No swooping lines and arrows across the page tethered to James Joyce's handwritten second thoughts.
and today i find i am james joyce!
but here too the author romanticizes the static artifact of a stateful process. when i use lines and arrows, it is not driven by the direction of thought, but the remaining space on the page. such a manuscript page flattens out the order in which such thoughts occur. it may be likened to an artist's palette, in which the earlier colors lay below the finishing touches
@craiggrannell I’m heading towards a point where I may have to update my iPhone to iOS 26 and I’m slowly dreading it.
Dreading to update some software - that’s where we are.
@darylbaxter There’s a point where it just won’t be feasible to keep all my kit on the previous systems. I’m dreading the upgrade. I can’t imagine the 27 ones will be much better.
how about a complete moratorium on demands to provide identifiable personal information under duress?
Petty complaint (everyone's favorite, right?): The Spanish government's online identification app is called `cl@ve movil`. My usual way of accessing apps on my phone is to type in their name. Typing in `cla` does *not* bring up the cl@ve app. I forget this every time. Branding it with an @ is fine but, using that in the app name is very mildly annoying. (I told you this was a petty complaint).
Semi-related: I have been considering switching from android to @calyxos but, is there a way to check before hand whether apps like cl@ve movil and my bank will still work? I don't have a good sense of what parts of the os these kinds of things do / don't rely on.

Don’t worry, it’s not authoritarian if Europe does it.
Now you see me smiling, standing in such a beautiful place, and you might ask what is making me smile. I think I can just stay quiet and let nature speak for itself.
The rich land, the crops growing in it, and the cool #environment will give you the real and satisfying answer.
What do you think? 😊

@lowqualityfacts Ah, the old magicks. From the before times.
@vtrlx is there a structured document format you like? i have been convincing myself above that "plain text" can be contextually meaningful, and that structure is distinct from realization.
html technically has a "structure", but it's only made available in the js dom. html is also a google product.
i want a text format because:
@hipsterelectron @vtrlx wdym HTML is only available is the js dom? You can parse it without JavaScript too.
