Isn't that already the case (to get an internet connection)?
The "problem" they try to "solve" is the sharing of internet connections or connected devices, and they will soon realize that ID registration just shifts it.
Next step: replace captchas with "scan your ID to continue"? But IDs are also easy to image/share, so... permanent, dynamic biometric verifications (facial detection, fingerprint, retinal scan?) soon on every device? 👀
Unfortunately, I think the next step might be: “What if we created a virtual DOM…”
