@zardoz03 I don't really have a problem with balancing parens. Too many parens is probably a sign that there's too much nesting going on anyway, so IMO it's a code smell. My problem is with the ridiculous rules for alignment, and how these rules make proportional type effectively impossible to use.

I did not. Coalitions are also incredibly rare in the UK and completely irrelevant. Coalitions happen after you get candidates elected. The discussion is about getting the candidates elected.
And, for the record, I studied Politics at A Level in the UK with one year devoted to the UK and one year devoted to the US system, so I suspect I understand your political system a lot better than most of your country mates.

that's all well and good but i find it even harder then to understand then why you don't see that 3rd party, in the current US system, divides the right, or the left, and guarantees the opposite side wins
you can't beat that with the sort of aspirational ground game you describe. you need to change the voting system, like to RCV. then everyone can vote 3rd party to their heart's content and 3rd parties will thrive
but not before that
@benroyce @david_chisnall @numodular @georgetakei Yes, and I want less parties in the Netherlands. Chaos is ruling and nobody wants an election threshold of 5%. At the moment we have 17 parties. Horror scenario.

This was also the problem in Germany around a hundred years ago, which is what led to the Nazis gaining control. When you have no party that comes close to a majority, no one has a mandate.

It's: Meaningful moderation
The problem is that this absolutely cannot be done at scale
This is one reason why we're getting all this age/identity verification stuff now
This way, the Platforms can add an easily circumvented identity wall, and then do: nothing

Lots of people around me are doing heroine these days. To truly evaluate whether heroine is the right choice for me, I decided I needed to also start doing heroine. And after months of heroine use, I too am unable to stop doing heroine. Sure it comes with trade offs but it’s a truly useful and powerful tool
