Relayez les cagnottes, donnez si vous pouvez, et soyez là pour vos proches trans qui en ont besoin. Ça inclut de se proposer pour accompagner aux rendez-vous, pour gérer les galères administratives, pour faire les recours quand iels se font pas respecter, de les aider à prendre contact avec des assos, des syndicats.

Et puis ça inclut même des choses aussi bêtes que de filer un coup de main pour un déménagement. Ça aussi c'est du soutien matériel précieux. Parce que dites vous bien que si vous connaissez une personne trans, y'a de fortes probas qu'elle soit isolée, et que vous faites partie des rares soutiens matériels qu'elle peut compter dans la vie.

I've got a giant stockpot of pulpy plum juice boiling on the stove, 3 small buckets of cleaned chokecherries, and a different elderly neighbour asked for help picking his apples (and gave us most of them) so I have a couple crates of apples. (I also have many bags of frozen raspberries, but probably won't get to those today). It's absolutely pouring rain, so it's a good canning day. (Would be nice if I also have some time for writing, too. We'll see.)

From Sotheby’s London, July 2023: “The full title of this print, Fujiwara no Yasumasa Playing the Flute by Moonlight, a Painting Shown at the Exhibition for the Advancement of Painting in Autumn 1882 (Meiji jugo mizunoe uma kishu Kaiga Kyoshinkai shuppinga Fujiwara no Yasumasa gekka roteki) highlights the fact that this triptych was based on a painting Yoshitoshi submitted to an exhibition of Japanese art (the Naikoku kaiga kyoshinkai) in 1882.

Both triptych and painting depict Fujiwara no Yasumasa (958-1036), the Heian period courtier, celebrated poet and flute-player. The story tells that one night while playing his flute on the Ichihara moor he was approached by Hakamadare Yasusuke (Kidomaru), a bandit, who planned to kill him. However as he was about to draw his sword and attack, Hakamadare Yasusuke was so enchanted by the music that he abandoned his plan. Widely considered Yoshitoshi’s masterpiece, this triptych is full of atmosphere and drama with these two characters captured on the windswept moor. The clouds were applied by hand and this appears to be an unrecorded example with the clouds applied horizontally.”

This metaphor from Claude at the end is unintentionally perfect - I doubt any kid has this nagging feeling, let alone 'every kid'. Most are just thinking 'wow I can cycle without stabilisers now!'.

That kind of confident statement - that scans well, that supports the theme of the blog, but appears false - is precisely why I don't trust LLMs in critical work. If bloggers like Jacob don't notice this, how to trust they'd spot similar flaws in their LLM output that still reads well and supports the goals of the prompts?
