« LA COMMUNE A VOTÉ CONTRE LE PROJET AGRIVOLTAÏQUE »
💥💥💥

Don't believe the hype, we've just had a warning about supposedly ‘safe by design’ tech.

The HMD Fuse child-safety phone was taken off sale after serious security vulnerabilities were discovered.

This includes flaws which could expose a child’s live location and allow protections to be disabled.

Great reporting @openDemocracy 's Ethan Shone on the gaping hole in #UK politics – regulation of lobbying. ATM, unlike MPs, councillors are not barred from being lobbyists. So, an ex-Tory MP-turned-#Reform councillor also works as a lobbyist! https://www.opendemocracy.net/email/62197bd7-f61f-43fa-b37a-77b8373dbb6c/

Fanstastic news! This Saturday, at 19:00, @lxplm and @Silbendrechsler will host a session on the progress of the @ZDF and ARD (https://ard.social) on the Fediverse.

https://ctalx.c-base.org/fediday-2026/talk/PMG9EK/ (also online)

We believe that, when it comes to protecting democracy, it's fundamental to have media professionals involved in efforts to seek more democratic alternatives to big tech social media.

Alex Plaum is also part of the @dw_innovation team.

Help us spread the word.

VoteSafe.org is not a government site. It is Elon Musk's super PAC. On August 29 it rewrote its privacy policy to allow selling your information, including whether you are registered and how you vote.

@jamey@toot.cat So this might be way too early to put out there but I think it's finally at a stage where more eyeballs on it is a good thing.

I've been working on and off on https://spec.cryptid.chat mostly as an extension of my master's degree work/thought experiment on how I'd design a chat protocol that has all the necessary bits and pieces to have Signal or Discord style usability while remaining as airtight as possible. It uses MLS under the hood.

We (as in me and like 2 other people) have a forum for discussion too over at https://forum.cryptid.chat if you'd like to stop by and join the infinite bikeshed

The current status is that I think I have most of the literature at a place where I'm happy with it and I'm working on designing the API now. Like I said, still VERY early.
