A good critique of MacOS new menu icons https://tonsky.me/blog/tahoe-icons/
It highlights @scottjenson 's point from https://youtu.be/1fZTOjd_bOQ?si=eBP04-Yp3Z1Qf_Wm on how desktop UX keeps getting worse, not better.
@Aurimas As one of the contributors to the 1992 HIG, I couldn't agree more with this post.

@jwd630 See now "executable README" makes me think of Atuin Runbooks, yet another cool thing I've yet to meaningfully.
I keep watching people who used to write 10,000-word explorations of complex topics now produce dozens of disconnected fragments per day, each optimized for immediate engagement.
It's like watching someone who composed symphonies decide to only make ringtones.

@Daojoan yep I had to take a screenshot because - ouch.
You have described people like, for too long, me.

Thanks! Looks like there might be a few useful additions in there to the big link list of German-language folk tale collections!
THE GUNSLINGER: THE SLOW MUTANTS (1981)
Acrylic on Watercolor Board - 20” x 15”
I took up the challenge of illustrating this scene illuminated solely by the flash of a gunshot. In so many ways, it was the shot that set the stage for Roland’s epic journey to the Dark Tower. 1/3

Russian attempt to storm Kupiansk using gas pipeline 'thwarted,' 40 soldiers 'eliminated,' Ukraine's 7th Corps says: https://benborges.xyz/2026/01/05/russian-attempt-to-storm-kupiansk.html
I’ve been building Pixelfed since April 2018, and Loops has taught me a lot too. There was a brief stretch where I lost myself and made choices I’m not proud of.
But I’ve grown — a lot.
Seeing people who once wanted Loops defunded now reaching out to collaborate is a big deal.
Good leadership is accountability, maturity, and moving forward.
Let's make 2026 the year of the fediverse, together ❤️
@macfranc
