They're absolute puddings, this lot. A barely sentient soup of craven ambition and credulous rube-ery.
The Pixel Buds 2a teardown gave us whiplash. The buds are glued shut like a tiny escape room, but the charging case is one of the most repairable we have ever seen.
It's a tale of two products. One half looks like the team ran out of time and reached for the glue. The other feels like someone proudly whispered “what if we made it actually repairable” and then did exactly that. Read the full analysis at the link below.

@Natouille Méwi ! Lecture en cours pour moi aussi et c'est passionnant.
@Natouille et dans une veine similaire je te conseille aussi « Le Puy du Faux ».
@neil back in the early 2000s I used ratpoison + screen + mutt and hardly needed to touch a mouse at all, except for some web browsing.
If websites thought about keyboard navigation (taborder and suchlike) a bit more, it would have been even better.
Good old days. More and more difficult to do that now, plus my job requires things like Figma and there's no avoiding the mouse there.
Tschja 🤷♂️
After three days of cloud & snowfall in the Austrian Alps, of course the sun had to come out on the day I’m leaving to head back to Heidelberg 🙄
Still, had time for a walk between the last lectures & my departure – goodness, it’s stunning out there today ❄️🌞😍
Now on the bus down the Ötztal, then on trains home.
But I really should get to the mountains more often – such a special place 🏔️

Addendum: the attendant danger of all that fresh snow in the Austrian Alps can be seen in the video linked below.
Just north of Obergurgl, on the Stubai glacier, there was an avalanche yesterday that fell across the groomed ski slopes. Apparently eight people were buried, but all rescued within a few hours.

Various illnesses can lead to a person losing touch with what is socially acceptable behavior.
I wonder what is going on here.
As long as, according to recent polls, almost 50% is STILL thinking Duck Joker Tramp does a great job, I'm afraid this is a reflection of what the US is, deeply.
I long for them to show me I'm wrong. I sincerely do.
But I'm being more and more skeptical.
Tomorrow, 29 November, tens of thousands of people are expected to protest against the extreme right-wing party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) in Gießen, Germany.
I am thrilled to see how many people are attending! Buses are arriving from all over Germany. It gives me hope! I wish everyone lots of strength for tomorrow!
This anti-fascist protest is organised by 'Widersetzen', a platform of various action groups.

Lesen ist langsam. Lesen braucht Zeit. Lesen verwandelt.
Genau deshalb ist es heute radikaler als Schreiben.

I am shocked by how fast credit card issuers in Denmark block credit cards based on a hunch.
I have now twice had a card blocked, because their AI system saw a "suspicious usage pattern". Both times it was just me using my card normally.
It is deeply problematic, because you get no warning. You are just standing in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country, and suddenly you cannot pay the cab to the airport, because the AI God has spoken.
Is it like this in your countries as well?
@randahl Just wait until all customer service is also replaced by AI, then it’s going to get really bad. And in situations like that, you won’t be able to do anything about it, because the AI will tell you the block is correct.
I know Amazon is a terrible company in many ways, but their customer service (because real, well-trained people) is just (still) really good.

https://replaceyourboss.ai/ is an absolutely brilliant illustration what AI would look like if it served workers (within toppling company structures).

If you drive, and you enter a car park and there’s just one single other car there, is your first instinct to:
- park right next to the other car, literally in one of the spots either side of it or
- park in any of the other spots *not* right next to the other car?

Bloody hell - & I’m damned sure that while some of that statement is his own words - most of it wasn’t. It’s been tidied up a lot.
He can’t even speak as well as this is written, so I’m positive there’s another hand in this garbage!
