Amsterdam police seized a server belonging to Autistici/Inventati (A/I) from a data center at Amsterdam Science Park, acting on a US legal assistance request. Police digital experts are making an image of the drive, which goes straight to the US.

A/I spent 25 years providing free web hosting and email to about 20,000 left-wing and anti-capitalist groups. In August the US branded it a terrorist organization.

@casdeiro One of the disproven assumptions of the early techies was that one could have online social activity without any connection to the local. But despite this disproof, the commercial companies supercharged the concept anyway and turned it into a PSYOPS dystopia mixed with celebrity cults. I never understood how people could be attracted to something that weird.

We used Ning locally around 2008 but we had to pay for the instance and it wasn't open source. But it came close to being useful.
