Business Insider: Influencers are urging Home Depot and Lowe's to drop Flock
@mastodonmigration @ai6yr I've moved a lot of my hardware purchaces to either Westlake Hardware (an Ace franchisee) or McLendon's (local chain) but I do still go to Home Depot for paving stones and Behr paint.
(Lumber for the most part is Dunn Lumber, another local chain. Better lumber again. Family's kind of ass but well the options are limited.)
@mastodonmigration Same! I go to a local True Value that's been around for like 50 years and is a 5 minute drive. If I really can't find something there I'll drive 20 minutes to Harbor Freight a couple towns over.
Business Insider: "A group of online creators with a combined 46 million followers is demanding Lowe's and Home Depot — two of the largest home-improvement stores in the US — to cut ties with Flock Safety amid a nationwide campaign against large retailers that may have contracts with the surveillance tech company.
The letter raised concerns that data gathered by the cameras could be accessed by federal or local law enforcement agencies to target immigrant day laborers and other shoppers."
@ai6yr
Have quit going to Home Depot in part because of the flock camera in the parking lot. It is like a giant FUCK YOU to their customers.
Finding out that the combination of the local Ace Hardware (in business since 1889!) and the local lumber yard (much better lumber) address all the needs.
FUCK YOU BACK Home Depot!
