There's "Art Deco" and "Art Nouveau"...
...are there any other "Art <insert term here>" aesthetic styles (genres? movements?)
(note: I know there's like Impressionism, Realism, but looking for other styles that have "Art something something something" as the name.
Heck, thinking further and showing my ignorance, are there any other styles in general that would be within the family of Art Deco and Art Nouveau (is that even a thing?)
@tinker I was surprised to learn that Arts & Crafts was an actual movement at some point, not just a time period you do at summer camp.

@tinker yes! Arte Povera was an Italian art style that focused on simple materials and themes - bodies, transformation of materials, etc. You might resonate with it - it's the opposite of pretentious. :)
Also, speaking of Art Deco and Art Nouveau... I used to really struggle to remember which was which, and then one day a friend pointed out to me that Art "D"eco is what the "D"warves would make (lots of chiseled edges and geometric forms) and Art Nouveau is what the elves would make (lots of swoopy lines and organic forms). I'm a big Tolkien fan, and it works perfectly as a memory aid for me!
does "arts & crafts" count. it was also an interesting movement.

i'm fond of the aesthetic. the fabrics/ceramics are lovely. jewelry, like the archibald knox stuff for liberty of london, i like fully as much as the art nouveau jewelry.

I have actually wondered the same, and had basically no luck searching myself. I suspect I’m missing some vocabulary.

@tinker these sorts of inquiries are often the best kinds to pursue on the fediverse, I’ve found. Open ended, probably some super nerd (affectionate) following? Ask on fedi. Get all the answers. Half the time the problem in finding the right hashtag.
