Governments individualising a collective issues are only doing harm. Asking individuals to "stock up on supplies" is not taking action, it's the government giving up, setting the stage for a scarcity they are contributing to engineering, possibly with more wars.
I have ranted many times on why the war vocabulary and mindset are not good for environmentalism, one reason is exactly this prepper mentality that is only atomising us more while accepting this crisis as "inevitable"

The UK government is now telling us to stock up because of Godzilla ElNino kicking off in autumn. 2026 has already been horrific, bleak and scary - wildfires, heatwave, drought, #Nepal 💔😢 and all. Meanwhile feels like huge financial crash and a lot more war coming soon too. Not to mention AI dystopia. Plus personal #Precarity for so many of us, worry every day. Like, how are you all coping?
