Chris has a point. Why do we still see good politicians fighting fascism from the fascist platform X?
I really wish we could find a way to promote the idea that democratic politicians use Mastodon to fight the good fight.
@randahl The reason is usually "because one can't afford not to be there". Because there's an audience. And of course, a lot of that audience is there because politicians who can't afford not to be there are there. Deadlock if we ever saw one.
@randahl Ok. Let’s say it’s the 1930’s and you are criticizing the Nazis. What takes more courage: Doing it in Berlin or New York?
By this I don’t want to equate writing comments online with running a secret printing press for your underground newspaper. But the analogy is still sound to me. X as a platform will become more and more of an echo chamber the more people decide to leave. I left, because I don’t like it for multiple reasons. But I have much respect for progressives who stay.
