I hiked up to Bench Lake at Mount Rainier National Park on Tuesday evening. It was fairly cloudy and hazy when I got there, and the lake still had a lot of waves, so I was wondering if I had made the trip for nothing.

But between 7 and 8 pm as the sun set, the clouds cleared, the wind calmed down, the lake went completely flat. That is when this beautiful reflection of Mount Rainier appeared, with just a slight alpenglow on the mountain and in the water.

It was absolutely delightful to watch it all come together.
