Most people think of translation as translating between two different languages, A and B, which is interlingual translation. Inter = between.
Intralingual translation, or rewording, is when you translate from language A to another variation of language A. Intra = within.
Dictionary definitions, technical writing, regional localization, and explaining one word with a whole phrase count as intralingual translation.
Intersemiotic translation, or transmutation, is when you translate content between sign systems, like between image and text.
Alt text, making graphs out of data, music sheets, movie adaptations of books, script acting and such count as intersemiotic translation.
