Curiously, my brain didn't go for "odd screws" first, but for "broken shirt buttons". I wonder if there are buttons specifically shaped after these fossils.
@csolisr I was convinced they were buttons as well, then noticed that some had 5 or 6 "holes" and did a double take. I still can't unsee the buttons, though.
