A colour photo of a snowy landscape under a partially cloudy sky. The viewpoint is from a metalled road, its black surface contrasting with the white snow surrounding it. Tall snow-poles show that this area is prone to deep drifts. Flat areas on either side of the raised road show where water is lying beneath. On the horizon is a range of impressive mountains, ice-covered but with black rock showing through on the wind-scoured edges. The spindrift snow is almost combining with the clouds above the mountains to form a fine veil through which the sunlit flanks are still visible.
