I'm hosting @Mastodon's first ever Discovery Week in just a few days. It's a chance for the public to weigh in on the future of online communities.

We'll be discussing topics like user-controlled algorithms, trust & safety, creator tools, and more. Your input will help steer Mastodon towards a more inclusive and impactful roadmap. @imanijoy @Mastodon this is rather interesting, I hope the best path is found. I have been really disheartened by the disabling of the timelines which happened earlier this year. It sort of feels like the openness is gone, even though those timelines mostly had things that no person should ever see.

So, the reason for eliminating them is clear. How can this new selection process be used to steer the software back towards openness and choice?
