I expect there will be a tipping point past which the network effect will be overcome. Discord was not always the juggernaut it is now discords come and go, FLOSS is forever.
Open source won media players with VLC and browsers with chromium;firefox and basically won 3d modelling with blender, games development is getting there with several professional projects made in Godot now. It does seem to be a function of time - yes open source takes longer to get to a comparable standard as proprietary software but when it attains that it doesn't enshittify and instead keeps trying to improve
