Conversations (via #UnifiedPush) is the backbone that gives #Matrix its reliable and timely notifications. An eventually consistent graph database is a nice concept, but it takes #XMPP to put the real-time into real-time communications.

@daniel I feel like that's a little disingenuous. Conversations offers unifiedpush, that matrix can utilize to get people off Google's push implementation but I wouldn't catagorize it as a backbone.

Do you mean it's possible to bridge a Matrix account with an XMPP account inside Conversation? I don't see that on the Internet site.
@nelfan Matrix needs an external notification provider do get updates (usually FCM or APNS) but can use the open source alternative UnifiedPush as well. And Conversations is a one of the available UnifiedPush distributors. The notification that travel through the XMPP are invisible though.
